Staff welcomed a delegation from the Royal Army of Oman (RAO) to the AES Twyford office as part of a week long UK visit programme. AES have built a strong relationship with the RAO, supporting them via the Machine Care Plus® service since 2007. This now covers their Challenger and M60 main battle tanks, G6 (155mm Self Propelled Howitzer) and Piranha (Armoured Fighting Vehicle) fleets.
The RAO personnel, led by the Head of the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (HEME) enjoyed a tour of the Early Failure Detection Centre and were given a detailed explanation of the varying functions that are conducted by AES Technical Service Engineers. The process of interpreting fluid (oil) and usage data to provide early warning of equipment and servicing issues was described, along with examples of how the system has prevented costly repairs and improved equipment availability.
